Haiti - FLASH : 2026 World Cup Qualifiers, our Grenadiers humiliated [5-1] by Curaçao 11/06/2025 06:54:33
On Tuesday, June 10, 2025, in the fourth and final match of the second phase of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers for the Confederation of North, Central American, and Caribbean Nations (CONCACAF) region, our Grenadiers faced the undefeated Curaçao national team, the leaders of Group C, on the pitch at the Guillermo Trinidad Sports Complex. Starting XI : French coach Sébastien Migné decided to retain the team that decisively defeated Azerbaijan [3-0] last March https://www.haitilibre.com/en/news-44536-haiti-football-our-grenadiers-win-3-0-in-a-friendly-against-azerbaijan-video.html . With one exception: Johnny Placide is starting in goal, replacing Alexandre Pierre. The attacking trio will be led by Duckens Nazon, Frantzdy Pierrot, and Deedson Louicius, already well-versed and effective. 1 Johny Placide (C) : SC Bastia (Corsica, France) 2 Carlens Arcus : Angers SCO (France) 4 Ricardo Adé : LDU Quito (Ecuador) 9 Duckens Nazon : Kayserispor (Türkiye) 10 Don Deedson Louicius : OB Odense (Denmark) 13 Markhus Lacroix : Colorado Springs Switchbacks F (USA) 14 Leverton Pierre : Châteauroux (France) 17 Dan Ley J. Jacques : Philadelphia Union (USA) 20 Frantzdy Pierrot : Aek Athens (Greece) 21 Christopher Attys : Calcio Lecco 1912 (Italy) 22 Jean-Kévin Duverne : KV Kortrijk (Belgium) Summary : Tuesday June 10, 2025, already qualified for the 3rd and final Phase of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup, our The Grenadiers faced Curaçao in the fourth and final group match to determine the final standings of Group C. A match in which our unrecognizable and unskilled Grenadiers were severely humiliated and beaten by Curaçao [5-1]. Our Grenadiers conceded a first goal from Gervane Kastaneer in the 12th minute [1-0] following a loss of possession by the Grenadiers in midfield, followed by a second from Kenji Gorré in the 15th minute [2-0]. Despite several attempts, Haiti failed to find the Curaçao goal, and the score remained unchanged at halftime. After the break, Deedson Louicius, assisted by Frantzdy Pierrot, reduced the score [2-1] to Haiti's advantage, fueling hopes of restoring the tie. But, 8 minutes later, Jearl Margaritha dashed those hopes by scoring a third goal for Curaçao in the 69th minute [3-1]. Showing great efficiency, Kevin Felida in the 89th minute extended the score [4-1], and Jeremy Antonisse put an end to the lesson for our Grenadiers with a fifth goal at 90th + 3rd minute [5-1]. Haiti, with 21 shots, including 5 on target and 1 goal scored, and Curaçao, with 10 shots, including 8 on target and 5 goals scored, pretty much sum up the gap in control and precision between the two teams. Haiti confuses speed with haste… Coach Sébastien Migné made several substitutions : 45' Wilguens Paugain replaces Carlens Arcus. 68' Belmar Joseph replaces Christopher Attys. 68' Mikaël Cantave replaces Louicius Deedson. 82' Dany Jean replaces Léverton Pierre. 90' François Dulysse replaces Ricardo Adé. Should be noted that since 1981 and the España 82 campaign, Haiti has never reached the final qualifying phase in CONCACAF. This third and final phase will bring together 12 Nations divided into three groups of four, with six decisive matches to be played between September and November 2025. Already qualified before their last match against Curaçao, the Grenadiers already know that they will be in Pot 2 during the draw scheduled for June 12. A major achievement for this generation, which now dreams of bringing Haiti back to the World Cup, 52 years after its historic only participation in 1974.
